The FOSC consortium and the FOSC projects joined in Marrakech Morocco on 16 and 17 October in a meeting hosted by the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation. The first day navigated around the outcomes of the FOSC Knowledge Hub. The Knowledge Hub gave project the opportunity to work together on valorisation products using the knowledge and outcomes of several projects.

Outcomes of the Knowledge Hub are:

A manual about including Traditional ecological Knowledge (TEK) in agricultural research: guidelines and lessons learned. Find the download link here.

A video about the tackling of drought and salinity stress: Innovative solutions for resilient Agri-Food Systems. View here.

A video about building resilient Food Systems in Africa: Lessons from SAFOODS and UrbanFOSC projects. View here.

A VR game was designed by the projects. The game allows the user to experiment with crops, soil treatment, soil salinity, and have climate change as random factor making the game challenging and informative. The game is designed for farmers, students and policy makers to learn about soil and crop management in different (extreme) circumstances. The game will be available for download soon.

And a policy brief written by a collaboration of projects is upcoming for publication.

The second day of the meeting in Marrakech consisted of two training sessions for researchers. The first session themed “EURAXESS Africa” by Dr. Ahmed Maalel, region representative for EURAXESS Africa.

The second session themed: “Managing freedom in science and science diplomacy” by Dr Liviu Matei (King’s College London) and Pr. Pierre-Bruno Ruffini (University of Le Havre). Slides of the two presentation can be downloaded here and here.
